Which start date applies depends on the regulation text and how your insurer or the Ombudsman reads it. Many people state the larger figure in the grievance and let the insurer respond. Simple interest, no compounding.

What this calculator assumes

Under IRDAI’s policyholder-protection rules an insurer is expected to settle or reject a reimbursement claim within 30 days of the last necessary document, and a late payment without a lawful reason can attract interest at 2% above the bank rate. Cashless requests have shorter limits (1 hour and 3 hours).

This is an estimate for your grievance, not legal advice. Read how to claim it in our guide to delayed claims and interest, and track your other deadlines with the claim deadline calculator.
