Quick answer

You can approach the Insurance Ombudsman after you have complained in writing to your insurer and it rejected your complaint, did not reply within 30 days, or gave a reply you are not satisfied with. File within one year of the insurer’s final reply. It is free, you do not need a lawyer, and it covers claims up to ₹50 lakh. File online through the Council for Insurance Ombudsmen or Bima Bharosa, or by post to the Ombudsman office for your area.
